Hello.
This is my first smartphone. Moto X. I could really use some shortcuts. Can I get rid of apps that I don’t or will not use? And what is a widget?
Thanks a bunch.
Pete
Moto X is a good option for new Android users.
For apps installed by you, you can uninstall them. The simple way to uninstall an in Moto X is to tap and hold an app, until the uninstall option comes. You can also go to Settings–Apps, find the app, and tap it, then you can uninstall it. You may also so this in Play app
For apps pre-loaded by Motorola or your carrier, you can disable them (you cannot uninstall them). You can go to settings–apps. Procedure is similar to uninstalling.
Widget can be considered as if you open an app in a small window to show some info. For example, showing photos. Some widgets can be re-sized.

Thank you.
The link is a great resource. The wife is still questioning me on why I got the Moto x over an I phone 5 like everyone else around here. Or a Galaxy like everyone wants. I think its a great phone. I still can’t believe my old phone lasted 13 years. Never replaced the battery but put several cases on.
Thanks a bunch.
