  • is tehere a way just to touch the screen and goes on -off? Would be much easier than messing with that botton all the tome

    • Voice command?

Motorola doesn't support using gesture or motion to wake up the phone except double twist to launch camera.

  • Simply saying "press the power button" to turn on the phone is lacking detail. In particular, this phone provides absolutely no feedback that the button press was detected. If you hold the power button down too long, then the phone will clear its internal cache which causes Andriod to "optimize" all your installed apps which can take upwards of 20 minutes or more depending on how many apps you have installed.

To turn on the phone, press the power button for 1 to 2 seconds then release.... then wait, wait, wait for the screen to illuminate. That can take 10 seconds or more. Be patient... the phone is turning on but you have no way of knowing that until the screen lights up.

    • Thank you "A. Moto User" for the detail explaination. I've been looking for this exact detail.

    • Another, "thank you!" I've had this phone for over two years and I'm still never quite sure what I do that turns it on. I long press, I multi-press; eventually the the thing just comes up. In reality, I've only turned it on a dozen or so times I would guess.

  • Same here. I end up in app optimization mode which takes forever... I usually have to hold 3-4 seconds

  • And a third thank you! I've had this phone since 2014 and I only now bothered to look up how to power it on, and your explanation was very helpful!
