Touchless Control: FAQs

Is Touchless Control recording everything I say?

Touchless Control is not recording everything it hears, it simply uses a very small amount of memory to listen for “OK Google Now” that it constantly is re-writing as waits for the trigger phrase.  The recognition of  “OK Google Now” is done entirely on the phone.  Motorola is not saving anything heard by the phone or the command either on the phone or in the cloud.

Where do my searches get saved?

Searches are not saved by the Touchless Control application or on the phone.  For Google queries, Google will log and store information in a manner consistent with the Google Privacy Policy.

What information is Touchless Control saving about me?

Touchless Control is not saving any information about you individually.  To help us improve Touchless Control, we are recording anonymously how often a phone uses Touchless Control and whether it is used for calling, voicemail, or a Google command.  In addition, we also log how many times a particular phone took to complete training the trigger “OK Google Now”.

Is my voice recorded?

Your voice is recorded in order to train the system but it isn’t saved.  We use your voice to customize the service to look for your personal way of saying “OK Google Now,” so the trigger is tuned to your voice.  Once we customize the service we delete your recording so it isn’t saved anywhere.

How does Touchless Control work with the security lock?

Touchless Control allows calling and voicemail without having to unlock your phone.  For Google commands, Touchless Control requires you to unlock the phone.  This is to protect your personal information. You can also use a BT trusted device in order to keep the device unlocked in order to execute Google Voice Search commands without having to pin in.  You can also minimize the security lock interruptions by increasing the time before your phone locks.

  • It's nearly impossible to text people using touchless control but it is a major selling point in the advertisements. for shame. My 3 year old garmin gps device can take menu commands by voice thus eliminating the need to actually touch the device most of the time. But, at least my moto-x can tell me what Arnold Schwarzenegger's birthday is. ...so.. thats good.

  • I could not find what I was looking for my touch control talk to me how do I fix that
